Arrived in Greece yesterday evening and stayed the night at Jenny’s apartment in Preveza great place and very helpfull, they picked us up at the airport and then today took us to our boat which is in Aktio boat yard we arrived about 9.30 this morning and we have been working on her all day .She was covered in red sand which has been picked up in the Sahara desert and dumped on my boat when it rained over the winter plenty of scrubbing brought her white again then it was time to fit all our stuff in her which is like playing chinese puzzles, lift up a cushion open a locker fill it with stuff then replace cushion move bag over then start again filling another locker being such a small place the only storage is in lockers under the seats and under beds because our new home can lean at an angle of 45Β° when sailing everything has to be stored securely. We have a few more days work on the boat in the yard before we can launch her!!! After a hard days graft sorted now so just chilling with music and mythos.ππ
Only four days until we arrive in Preveza to pick up Lesanda!!! She is laid up in Aktio http://aktio-marina.gr yard with about 300 boats we are launching her next Saturday so we will be staying on her for 3 days propped up on stilts with the only access to the boat by ladders.
It’s now packing and weighing time we have booked 3 bags on the flight 69kg in total 1 1/2 bag for boat stuff inc. 100mtr 14mm mooring rope, 20mtr 6mm rope, 2 water pumps, shackles and blocks, electic inverter, radio and assorted boaty bits. 1/2 bag for plates and pans kitchen stuff ,yorkshire tea, worsester sauce. Leaving me and Claire 1 bag to share for all of our clothes shoes and coats for 3 month at least that means less washing which we will have to do in a bucket.
Lets look at the negative points of the trip firstπ
Living space about 1.5m x 2.0mo
Sleeping in a small triangular shaped bed
Living off 12v battery
No mains water
No waste colection
No transport on land
Living space constantly moving 24hr
Only security a hook on the seabed
Having to take our little tender to shore (which could be half a mile away) for water, shopping, fuel and anything we need!!!
All sounds fantastic to me!!!!!
Now the plus points
Blue skies and Sunshine
Temperature 25Β°+
Doing what we want, when we want, with who we want
No alarm clocks, traffic jams, TV
Sailing to diferent destinations any time we want
Waking up and diving off the boat for a swim in crystal clear water
Walking up 3000ft spectacular mountains in sunshine
Islands surrounded by white sand and turquoise sea
Swimming to a taverna on the beach
Exploring hidden coves and caves
Drinking Mythos in frosty glasses
Sleeping under the stars
pods of dolphins
Meeting new friends
Every day different
Bright red sunsets sat on the boat sipping wine and listening to Floyd
Sailing off into a setting sun
Need I say moreπππ Kalinychta

Well if you can understand how this blog works you are a cleverer person than me. Setting up this has to be one of the toughest things I have ever done, technology has overtaken me. I am typing this with one finger on an ol tablet thet the touchscreen doesn’t work right I dont even know if anyone will see this so why am I doing it? Because as my dad said in the Boot this afternoon “anything is better than watching mind numbing TV” and I supose thats what this blog is about. Today I have had enough of tech. This morning I spent 3 hours trying to get Claires new phone to talk to her old phone, gone are the days when you got a bit of paper and wrote down all your friends numbers then manually keyed them into your new phone. Now you lay your new phone next to your old phone and let them phonicate while sharing all you intimate details photos, messages, emails, apps and secret passwords which even you cant remember. After sorting Claires phone it was back to the old tablet to get this blog going 2hours and no nearer so pack in and go on a pub crawl with my 89yo dad and enjoyed every minute 4 pint and a pizza later back on the tablet and i think ive sussed it, if I haven’t you wont be reading this anyway if yo d read this I am going to write more dont know when or where it will end up on this site but im going to press publish now and see what happens. Au revoir
